Walt Kowalski (Clint Eastwood) è un reduce della guerra di Corea, di carattere burbero e spavaldo, prova una grande passione per la propria Ford Torino, modello classico del 1972, custodita in garage. Walt non mostra pudore nel manifestare il proprio sentimento anticoreano, nato durante la sua campagna in Corea, quando vide morire suoi amici per mano dei nemici. A peggiorare la situazione, il quartiere da lui abitato negli ultimi anni è diventato il principale centro suburbano della comunità coreana, e le bande giovanili danno molto fastidio a Walt.
